Lisa Maxbauer is an award-winning magazine writer and book author. To launch her career, she spent 10 years in New York City working as a magazine editor, where she focused on health, nutrition and parenting. Her work has been published in countless national publications. She has also blogged for The New York Times.
Lisa is currently a Senior Editor at the national, best-selling magazines First for Women and Woman's World, where she writes cover stories. She won a 2020 Eddie Award for her health writing.
Lisa is also the author and photographer behind the children's book Squash Boom Beet: An Alphabet for Healthy, Adventurous Eaters. And she is pursuing publication for her debut novel, an adult contemporary romance.
Lisa lives in Northern Michigan with her husband, three sons and mini Goldendoodle. In her free time, she loves hiking, traveling, collecting dresses, reading/watching rom-coms, biohacking, listening to music and eating delicious food.

She has been nominated for two Eddie Awards, and won one. Formerly, she worked as a Senior Editor at Physician’s Weekly, contributing writer at Guideposts, and guest blogger with The New York Times' Motherlode.
Lisa is also the author and photographer of the children’s nutrition book Squash Boom Beet, which won several awards including the Moonbeam Children’s Book Award, the Beverly Hills Book Award and the Readers' Favorite International Book Competition. The book, about eating locally grown farm foods, also earned Lisa an Environmentalist of the Year award nomination from the NMEAC in the category of Journalism and Communication.
Lisa has been a frequent on-air contributor to television shows including UpNorth Family, where she led healthy cooking segments. Lisa is also the owner of Blue Bay Books, an independent publishing company.
Lisa graduated magna cum laude from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, where she studied professional writing and played varsity softball. In college, Lisa also served as Women’s News Editor for The Observer newspaper at The University of Notre Dame, where she studied art history.
